Martial arts-themed roguelike for mobile
Warm Snow is a premium action game for mobile coming from developer Bilibili HK Limited. It is a roguelike title featuring martial arts themes for its premise and combat. In it, players take on the role of a lone warrior on a war path against corrupt clans to save the world. Compared to The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth or Dead Cells, Warm Snow draws heavily on Chinese folklore for its narrative and world-building. Players will go on a grand journey across a vast land full of dangers and humans that have turned into monsters due to a mysterious illness.
A dark crusade
The game is set during the dark pseudo-Chinese imperial times, wherein a mysterious phenomenon known as the titular Warm Snow fell on the world. Those who breathe it would lose their minds and become monsters. You play as a lone warrior named Bi-An who embarks on a journey to discover the truth behind this illness and the Five Great Clans that add to the people's suffering.
Warm Snow boasts an exciting flying sword combat mechanic that complements your melee attacks with a wide range of ranged attacks that deal shadow or light damage depending on your enemies. You'll also be collecting and unlocking various sects, relics, and excaliburs that you can combine for synergies as you explore and level up, making each run different and varied every time.
Now, as is the case with most roguelikes, the gameplay is rather difficult and you'll die a lot. However, you'll collect Fragments of Truth through Reincarnation, which you can use to unlock permanent upgrades that will persist for future runs. As of this writing, though, the game is not out yet, but you can already Pre-Order it, so you can play the moment it releases.
Thrilling and challenging
Warm Snow is yet another solid roguelike that will please a lot of fans of the genre with its distinct setting. It boasts a robust and dynamic combat system that allows for all kinds of play styles and plenty of powerups and bonuses to experiment with. It's going to be hard, but if you like the challenge, give this one a shot.
